From 1 October 2026 we’ll no longer apply a surcharge (transaction fee) on payments using eftpos, Mastercard or Visa cards, in line with the changes announced by the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) in March 2026.
This change makes it easier to understand what you’re paying. From 1 October 2026, the price you see is the price you’ll pay when using eftpos, Mastercard or Visa. American Express have voluntarily chosen to align to this policy and will remove their surcharge fee effective from 1 October 2026 also.
This change does not impact other fees and charges that may apply to your electricity account.
The Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) has introduced new rules that require businesses to remove payment surcharges effected from 1 October 2026. Horizon Power is making this change to comply with the new policy.

No. This change only applies to payment surcharges for payments via Visa, Mastercard and eftpos transactions. Other fees charged by us do not fall under this policy change.
