Create an outage action plan
If you have registered the life-support equipment at your premises with us, we’ll always try to contact you before any planned power interruptions. This will give you the opportunity to put a back-up plan into action:
Create & share your action plan
Talk to any carers, family and friends about making an action plan to cover what to do if your electricity supply goes off without warning.
Have an alternative power source nearby
Such as a battery backup system, portable or fixed generator.
Know the location of your nearest hospital
Be prepared to leave your home if an extended outage occurs.
Keep emergency phone numbers handy
For your doctor, fire department, police and ambulance services and our 24/7 faults line (13 23 51).
Always have a phone available
That doesn’t rely on mains power.
Have a battery-operated radio and torch
On hand with fresh batteries and set of spare ones closeby.
During a storm
Listen to the radio to keep up with the latest weather conditions.
Be prepared to leave your home
If an extended outage occurs
