Here's everything you need to know to apply to connect a renewable energy system to the network.
Rooftop solar
New or existing behind-the-meter systems, from 1KW to 1MW and everything in between. All new connections will be energy managed - we call this Smart Connect Solar.
Electric Vehicle charger
An EV Connect application is required to install any EV charger greater than 2.4kW.
Battery systems
When combined with a new solar system or added to an existing connection.
Large scale renewables
If you're planning on connecting something else like a solar or wind farm, our engineers will help determine the appropriate specifications.
All new connections will be energy managed with Smart Connect Solar
As more renewables connect to the network, it becomes harder to maintain a stable power supply.  Smart Connect Solar means more rooftop solar can be connected without impacting network stability.
Most systems will need to be energy managed via a Secure Gateway Device connected to Horizon Power's DER Management system (DERMS).
What you need to know
Technical Requirements for Low Voltage EG systems - have been updated to facilitate the new DERMS requirements and SGD supplied by Horizon Power. Download or learn more.
Inverters - for Basic EG connections, only select inverter makes and models are initially compatible with the SGD (supplied by us). This list will continue to grow as more inverters become compatible.
Training - to install Smart Connect Solar, you'll need to complete our new Solar Accreditation Australia (CPD113) micro-accreditation.
About Smart Connect Solar
