New DER technical requirements for consultation

We're working hard to enable more households and businesses to connect to the benefits of solar and battery

And to facilitate this increase, all new connections will need to comply with changes to our EG Technical Requirements - with a focus on battery connections.

Before they take effect from July, this is an opportunity for you to understand more about these changes and provide your feedback.

These changes focus on integrating battery storage as smart energy assets

In the long run, they prepare the network to coordinate, store and share renewable energy across the community. This will support households and businesses to maximise their investment in connected energy resources e.g. solar, battery, EV chargers heat pumps and smart appliances.

Increased uptake of battery installations

Supported by WA Residential Battery Scheme.

New battery operational settings

Configuring them for time based operating envelopes.

Visibility of connected battery assets

To inform the extension of our Distributed Energy Resources Management System (DERMS).
