Upgrade or modify power supply

When your energy needs change, your electricity supply might need to be updated or upgraded.

Apply to upgrade an existing power supply

If you need to increase your existing supply (for example, to expand your business, add new appliances or workshop equipment) you can request a supply upgrade using the form below.

As part of the application process, you’ll need to provide the existing meter number.

Electricity connections can be varied and complex. We recommend that a professional electrical consultant or contractor completes this application on the customer's behalf. You’ll also need permission from your strata company, if applicable.

About the application process

The cost of your upgrade will depend on the size, type, and location of the connection. We'll provide you with a quote once we've reviewed your requirements. If your connection has a total maximum load of between 30 kVA and 1000 kVA (or 10% of the relevant systems peak load), a design fee of $6,600.00 will apply.

This form will also capture your CT metering requirements. You’ll find more detail about this and the information you need to provide, on the application form.

All prices are correct as at 1 July 2024, include GST (except where noted otherwise), and are subject to change at any time.

After you have submitted your application, please allow approximately:

  • 30 business days to design and provide you with a  formal quote
  • 30 business days for you to sign the Quote Acceptance form and return it to us
  • 12 weeks for work to commence following receipt of payment

Please note: these time frames are estimates only and can vary.

Apply for a CT meter

CT (Current Transformer) meters are installed on any connections with a load greater than 100 amps. A CT meter only measures a fraction of the current passing through the connection and a multiplier is applied to this reading to reflect the actual current.

Apply for a meter phase upgrade

Single phase power is used in most new homes and small businesses. Sometimes, you'll need to upgrade to three phase power to run a new air conditioner, oven, appliance or machinery that requires three phase to operate.

Some three phase upgrades can be performed inside the switchboard by a qualified electrician. Speak to your electrician about the work you need and how much it will cost.

Once you've found an electrician to do the work, they need to complete and submit a Preliminary and Completion notice which will notify us of the work being carried out.

If you need to change or cancel your application

Sometimes your circumstances change and you may need to cancel or change the information within your application after you have submitted it to us.

If you would like to change the scope of work in your application, we will first review the change and then:

  • If the change is minor, we might continue the project with the variation and invoice you for any additional materials, design work and remobilisation costs incurred.
  • If the change is major, we may need to cancel the project and ask that you submit a new application with your new requirements.

Please note: for cancelled applications we will invoice you for the costs incurred up to the point of cancellation (time and materials). If construction work has already commenced, we will refund the difference from your access offer, less any costs incurred.
