Horizon Power Reaches Rooftop Solar Milestone, Increasing Access to Renewables Across Regional Western Australia

More than 2400 additional customers in the Gascoyne and Mid West now have access to rooftop solar, with Horizon Power’s Smart Connect Solar expanding to Exmouth, Sandstone, Denham, Gascoyne Junction and Mt Magnet.

Horizon Power is now offering Sunshine Saver to customers in the Mid West towns of Cue, Yalgoo, Sandstone, Wiluna, Meekatharra and Norseman.  

Commencing in May 2024, the project is a testament to Horizon Power's dedication to community safety and engagement. A recent session at the Carnarvon Yacht Club allowed the company, alongside WA Police and Shire representatives, to share insights into the project's benefits with local residents and businesses.

On 9 May 2024 the WA State Government announced a one-off credit of $400 to reduce electricity bills for eligible residential and small business customers.

Horizon Power is excited to share that we have awarded $468,888 in grants to 57 community organisations and events throughout regional and remote Western Australia. This initiative is a testament to our commitment to energizing local communities and fostering vibrant initiatives.

Horizon Power is proposing to expand the North-West Interconnected System (NWIS) electricity network, by constructing an approximately 7 kilometre (km) long 132 kilovolt (kV) overhead transmission line between the Dampier Substation and the Burrup Strategic Industrial Area (SIA). The Burrup SIA is not currently connected via transmission infrastructure to the NWIS.

This year the WA State Government has announced changes to most electricity tariffs, in line with inflation. These changes come into effect from 1 July 2024.
